LENT

This year I'm treating lent a little differently than I usually do. Typically I'll give up Dr. Pepper or soda in general, which is pretty darn difficult. But this year I decided to really take lent seriously. Not only am I giving up social media (just twitter and instagram because I am addicted) but I'm also taking something on.

I downloaded the she reads truth app and have taken on a reading plan to read the whole bible in one year. So far I have read 5% of the bible woo! I always have a difficult time recognizing bible stories and reading the whole bible in general just sounds so awesome so I knew this was something I needed to take on. It also helps keep me accountable in reading the bible every day, which I am guilty of not doing a lot. (Side note, this app has the best phone wallpapers. I'm addicted to changing my wallpaper and these are perfect)

The next thing that I decided to take on, which won't last through all of lent, but is still a good idea is the minimalist challenge. I live for my iPhone calendar so each day I made an all day event with the title of the challenge for the day. I started on March 1st and so far so good. I have run into a few challenges that don't really apply to me, but that's okay.

I highly suggest trying any of these things! Just because lent has been going on for a while, doesn't mean that you can't start now! Also, let me know if you have any other suggestions of things to give up/take on.

Happy almost spring break!

Another side note, my MIS class is coming to good use with this whole blogging thing cause I definitely just edited the code a bunch for my blog to get these cool new fonts. Hope y'all like.

SEMESTER 2 OF 8

(wrote this a while ago and totally forgot to post it so here it is about a month late!)

Wow it has been a very long time since I have actually posted something on here. I haven't really had a lot of time to come up with a post (although I did have 5 weeks off for Christmas where I totally could've written something, oops). Those 5 weeks at home were so so so awesome. I was reunited with all of my best friends and hung out with them every chance I got.

I also went to Boulder, CO with my family and skied in the snow on Christmas Day!

Christmas break was full of relaxation and cuddle sessions with my pets, but now I'm back to reality. Coming back to school was really weird. Part of me felt like I had never left and the other part of me felt like I had never even had my first semester. After 2 weeks I feel like I'm finally getting back into the swing of things and I can already tell that this semester is going to be way better than the first.
Here are my new semester goals:

  • read my Bible more often even when I have tons of homework
  • stop waiting until the last minute to do my homework
  • get at least a 3.0 (that way my dad will let me get my cartilage pierced)
  • make lots of new friends (but don't forget about my 8 besties from home)
  • go on more "austiny" adventures
Happy spring semester everyone hope it's a good one!
