WAIT... I'M GOING WHERE FOR COLLEGE?!

My life has taken a crazy turn in the past few days. Like a complete turn in the opposite direction. If you would have talked to me this time last week I would be dead set on going to A&M and UT wasn't even in the picture. Like at all. I thought there was no possibility of even getting accepted to UT so I just kinda shoved it to the side and focused on A&M.

So on Saturday this crazy thing happened. I got accepted to the business school at UT. How insane is that?! So at that point I was like wow, I really have a huge decision to make between the two schools. I had never felt so torn in my life.

Then today I finally heard back from A&M and guess what... I got into Blinn Team. I didn't get accepted (completely) to A&M. If you don't know, Blinn Team is this program where people can take some classes at A&M and some classes at Blinn and then you end up transferring to A&M the next year.

At this point I was like whoa. God is definitely trying to tell me something. I got in to the one school that is super hard to get in to and didn't get in to the other one. I must not belong at A&M and I must have been trying way to hard to plan my future when I should have been putting it all in God's hands. But I have finally put it in his hands and I'm super happy that I've decided to go to the University of Texas in the fall. Wow I can't believe I'm actually saying that.

Now the next thing to worry about is getting into the Scottish Rite Dorm! Crossing my fingers that it works out!

(For some reason this picture is showing up with grey spots on my eyes... ignore that)

DANCING, PROM STUFF, AND SUNNY DAYS

Oops I am super late on this post! But a lot of stuff has happened this past week that I have got to share!

So last Wednesday was Lariette Show offs. Basically it is a huge performance that is put on by us, our JV team, the dance classes, and Air Crew. It's always a ton of fun to show the school what else we do besides dance on the field during halftime. Also, after our very last dance I got asked to prom! I actually kinda messed it up though because Christian held up the sign but I end the dance facing the back so I just stood up and started walking back to exit the gym and didn't even see it! Everyone was like Emily turn around! And I was like what the heck are you talking about? And then finally I saw the sign and ran up and hugged him.

On the topic of prom... MY PROM DRESS CAME! I'm so obsessed with it. It's gorgeous. It's a pretty light blue strapless dress with a ton of beading all over the top. I don't have a decent picture of myself in it right now, but I will definitely post one when prom comes around.

Saturday was competition day and boy was it stressful but overall it was a fun day! We did pretty well in our dances (we had a lot of good competition) but we definitely have some work to do before nationals. The whole competition atmosphere though is so awesome. I love performing for the judges and dancing/spending time with the team all day. And boy do they have some good frozen custard in the cafeteria.

Sunday was the day I had been looking forward to since like last summer. You can probably assume that I'm talking about Camp Pike stuff and yes you would be correct in that assumption. Sunday night we found out who the new counselors were going to be! I'm super excited because my best friend Maci and I have been invited back and Christian also got accepted for his first time! I can't wait to welcome in the newbies, but I'm super sad for my friends who aren't able to come back. I'm praying that God is doing bigger things for them this summer. And bigger than Camp Pike has got to be huge and I get excited for them as well when I think about it that way.

Monday we didn't have school which was super nice and the weather was beautiful all day. I spent all day with Maci and you wouldn't believe it, but... we went running. I promise we actually did it, but nobody believes us. We are definitely not the running type. But I'm excited because Maci and I are going to start a running plan and it's going to help us out a ton for camp this summer.

I'm also getting super anxious about college lately. I think A&M is my first choice now and I still haven't heard back from them and I'm getting nervous! But apparently they're supposed to let everyone know if they got in before March 1st so I will know next week. It's so soon now and I cannot wait any longer! I just want to know! But I know I need to stop being so anxious and I've got to put it all in God's hands because he knows where I'm supposed to go next year. Prayers for me getting into A&M/making the right decision on where to go would be much appreciated.

SOMETIMES I JUST FEEL LIKE WRITING A LITTLE POST

This weekend was actually a whole lot of fun and super exciting (which I'll get to that part in a minute)! It started out great for my family because my brother finally got a job! YAY! Long story short he didn't want to go back to college this semester and was really struggling to find a place to work and finally thank the lord he got a job! I am so happy for him!

Then Saturday was really awesome. I started out the day with a run and dance, then went to the Y with my dad. It felt really great to workout so much. Hopefully that will be beneficial for showoffs and competition which are this week ahh! (by the way showoffs is this big performance put on by the Lariettes where we do all of our contest dances which includes my solo and I'm super nervous). I'm getting totally off topic but anyways... next I went to the soccer game with a bunch of friends and we won! But I had to leave early to go babysit, once again. This is the third weekend in a row that I've been babysitting. It's crazy. Then after I finished babysitting I met up with Maci, Francesca, Kasey, Gabino, Christian, and Justin all over at Maci's house where we played Just Dance and Rockband of course! Sometimes just sitting around at someone's house and just talking and playing games can turn out to be so much fun. I laughed so hard watching everyone play. Gosh, I love my friends. Oh and now for the really exciting part! I'm going to have a prom date! I wasn't too concerned about getting a prom date, but ya know I'm still a girl and there was a part of me that would really like to have one. So my friend Christian (who is a junior) and I were talking about prom and how he went last year and how much fun that was and I was like hey you should just take me! And he was like wait really I would love to take you! So yay now I have a prom date and it's going to be so much fun because we're really close friends and he's so hilarious I can't wait!! But he's also going to "officially" ask me some creative way so I'm really excited for that.

Maci and I at the game

This is my prom date Christian. He is a total goofball as you can see

Today was a really nice day. Last night I spent the night at Maci's and we stayed up super late watching figure skating which I LOVE. Then we got up this morning and went to church and the sermon today was really great and completely related to my life because it was all about finding your calling in life. We got a new youth minister and he gave the sermon and I'm starting to really really like him. He's going to be really great for our church. Then Maci and I went to lunch at Chili's which was delicious. And then we did some homework with Francesca and then went and got Sprinkles cupcakes. YUM.

So yeah that pretty much sums up my weekend. Sorry I was totally rambling and this post was very pointless, but I'm really bored and felt like typing everything out because I tend to forget fun weekends like these and I wanted to be able to remember it down the road

SNOW IN TEXAS??

GUYS TODAY IT SNOWED! So this morning I was scrolling through twitter and some people were tweeting about possible snow and I was like surely not! Knowing how weird Texas weather is, I did not think it was going to snow at all. So going to check and see if it was snowing was my motivation to get up this morning. And sure enough when I looked outside it was actually snowing! Usually it will just sleet here, but this time it was actual snowflakes falling from the sky.

By the time Social Officer period started there was a ton of snow outside! So of course we acted like 5 year olds and went and played in the snow. It was so exciting, but driving home from school was so scary and hard. I actually slid right through a red light. Oops.

Here's a few pictures...
I LOVE THE SOCIAL OFFICERS

SO MUCH EXCITEMENT

It's that time of year again! Time to reapply for Camp Pike counselor! Ah! I can't believe it's already here. I am so excited for this next year of camp (if I make it again) and cannot wait to find out who will be a part of the counseling staff this year. There are a ton of really great people applying and I wish that there was some way that we had room for every last one of them, but I know that whoever gets chosen will be the perfect choice. I can't wait to watch the new counselors experience what I experienced last year and for the counselor family to grow once again. Camp Pike counselors are definitely the greatest group of people you will ever meet and I can't wait for the newbies to discover that.

Two Fridays ago the application packet was due which is the super easy part of the process. After they look over that for a little, they contact you for an interview. Oh how I hate interviews. I have never ever once had a super good interview... EVER. But finally today was my interview and I think it went pretty well. I was extremely nervous though and they could tell, but it was nice to be like wow I'm super nervous and hear them tell me I have no reason to. It made the whole thing a little less painful. They asked me about last year and about how I'd been preparing for camp this year and it was really nice to be able to talk about how my friends and I run our own bible study and how much that has helped me prepare for camp this summer. I can't wait to share what I've learned from bible study with all my campers and encourage them to start their own as well. They also asked about my talents which was really nice because no one really knows that I have musical (kinda) and artistic talents. I also got to talk about my devo from last year, which I loved to talk about. I'm basically a pro on the subject now and it was cool to explain it to them as well and say how much I enjoyed sharing my thoughts with everyone at camp even though it was super nerve racking.

Well in a few more weeks I'll probably come back here and talk about the results! I'm thinking I have a pretty good chance of getting accepted again. Mostly because I think we have just the right number of girls applying. But I won't let myself be too certain that I'll get it because you really never know what's going to happen. I'm just leaving it all in God's hands. I've been praying a ton about my application and interview so now I just gotta keep praying for my friends applying and that when they go through the decision process they don't have anything bad to say about me or them! Ah! I can't wait!

Let's throw it back to last year with a few of my favorite pictures...

So lucky to experience those two weeks with one of my best friends, Maci

This is Christian and he's applying this year and I can't wait for him to get it. Because he's totally going to get it. There's no doubt about it.

Here's Matt and I being the awkward people that we are :)

The crazy group of counselors. I love them all to death
